Background Checks

As part of our screening process, Town + Country Resources conducts the following background checks at or prior to the time a permanent offer is made and accepted. Background checks (other than Trustline, see below) typically take 2 to 4 business days to complete.

  • Legal Status Verification
  • CA State Driving Record
  • Criminal Records Report in Candidate’s Primary County
  • Social Security Scan
  • National Sex Offender Registry
  • Trustline application for registration for positions that include childcare

Trustline

In addition, Town + Country Resources arranges to have each childcare candidate fingerprinted and make their application to be registered with Trustline. Trustline is a state-mandated registry of in-home childcare caregivers that have cleared criminal background checks in California. We will arrange to have the candidate fingerprinted and submit their Trustline application to the Department of Social Services for registry when the candidate is hired in a position. Trustline typically takes four to six weeks to return results.

Trustline is an ongoing registry and once a caregiver is registered, a household employer can check on a caregiver’s Trustline status for free at any time by calling 1-800-822-8490. For more information about Trustline, visit their web site at http://www.trustline.org.

Additional Background Checks

Additional background checks including civil and criminal records, out of state driving records, education verification, and national wants and warrants are available on an a la carte basis for an additional fee.
